

Five Ways to Assign Permissions to Mailboxes
(Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003)
- In Outlook
- Select a mailbox folder, such as Contacts
- Right click on the folder, get Properties, then click on the
Permissions TAB
- Assign another user permissions to the folder
- In Outlook choose Tools, Options, then click on the Delegates TAB
- Add a user as a delegate
- Pick the role of Reviewer, Author or Editor on a
per-mailbox-folder basis
- Then, have the other user use Outlook, and
choose, File, Open another users' folder
- In Active Directory Users and Computers
- Send on Behalf
Select a user, right click and choose Properties, and choose the
Exchange General TAB
- Click on the Delivery Options button
- Under the Send on Behalf section click on the Add button to
add a user
- Make sure the "delegate" opens a message in Outlook, and
chooses the View menu, and displays the From field, and selects
the "master" user.
- Full Mailbox Access
Select a user, right click and choose Properties, and choose the
Exchange Advanced TAB
- Click on the Mailbox Rights button, select another user, and
assign Allow Full Mailbox Access
- Then, at the "delegates" workstation, in Outlook, create an
additional profile for the "master's mailbox" with prompting to
choose a profile on launch...or,...
- ...in the current profile, go to Advanced properties and
choose to Open an Additional Mailbox.
- Send As
Select a user, right click and choose Properties, and choose the
Security TAB
- Click on the Add button to select another user, and assign the
Allow "Send As" permission
- Make sure the "delegate" opens a message in Outlook, and
chooses the View menu, and displays the From field, and selects
the "master" user.
